Abstract: The greening substrate material is the basis for the growth of plants. On the basis of the development of the protective technology of the expressway-side slopes，combined with the research on and application of the greening substrate material at home and abroad, the paper mainly introduces physical and chemical properties of different slope protective technology, material selection, and base material ratio, pointing out the development direction of the material and providing a basis for developing new greening materials.
